Tesla has found a solution to the gas pedal issue that prompted a recall of Cybertrucks made after November 13. The fix was shared in a 35-second video posted by a user on X (formerly Twitter) during a Cybertruck event in California.
The solution involves drilling a hole into the gas pedal and securing the pad with a rivet. Tesla technicians are using a pedal rework kit to perform the drilling, with precise measurements required for certain steps.
The recall was issued for approximately 3,878 Cybertrucks manufactured between November 13, 2023, and April 2024 due to an “unapproved change” in production causing the issue. Customer claims of the problem in late March and early April prompted an assessment by Tesla, resulting in the voluntary recall decision.
To prevent further incidents, new accelerator pedal components are being installed in vehicles at delivery centers and those in transit. Despite the issue, as of mid-April, there have been no reported injuries related to the gas pedal problem.
Tesla continues to prioritize the safety and well-being of its customers, working swiftly to address any potential concerns that may arise. The company is dedicated to ensuring that all vehicles meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
