The 77th annual Tony Award nominations have been announced, with Alicia Keys musical “Hell’s Kitchen” and 70s-set music drama “Stereophonic” leading the pack with an impressive 13 nods each. “Hell’s Kitchen” is up for some major awards, including best musical and best actress in a musical for Maleah Joi Moon, while “Stereophonic” is dominating the best play category.
Some standout nominations include Jeremy Strong receiving his first Tony nomination for leading actor in a play for “An Enemy of the People,” as well as Rachel McAdams and Eddie Redmayne being nominated for leading actress and actor in a play, respectively.
David Byrne and Fatboy Slim have also been recognized for their outstanding work, being nominated for best original score for “Here Lies Love.” However, some notable snubs include Steve Carell, Alfred Molina, and Laurie Metcalf.
The highly anticipated awards ceremony will take place on 16 June and will be hosted by Ariana DeBose.
