Polestar Unveils First Smartphone at Guangzhou Auto Show
Polestar, the Swedish automotive company known for its high-performance electric vehicles, has teased the development of its own smartphone at last year’s Guangzhou Auto Show. CEO Thomas Ingenlath highlighted the seamless transition between car and smartphone, emphasizing the importance of connectivity in the modern world.
Images of the production Polestar phone have recently surfaced on the Chinese website Weibo, sparking excitement among tech enthusiasts. The phone, co-developed by Meizu, a smartphone brand owned by Geely, is set to begin deliveries in the domestic market at the end of April.
The sleek design of the Polestar phone includes four cameras on the rear, a thin bezel around the main screen, a 21:9 aspect ratio, and a 6.5-inch display. It will run on Xingji Meizu’s FlyMe OS, which also appears in Polestar vehicles in China. The custom-built platform is necessary due to the lack of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in the Chinese market.
Meizu’s Flyme Auto brings the mobile phone and car into total sync, allowing for seamless integration with the infotainment systems found in Polestar’s electric vehicles. This innovation comes at a time when other Chinese smartphone brands like Huawei and Xiaomi are making moves into EV production.
With Polestar’s Geely ownership, the company can better understand the market and deliver desired solutions like the Polestar phone. Customers can expect a groundbreaking device that combines cutting-edge technology with the luxury and performance that Polestar is known for. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development in the world of technology and automotive innovation.
