Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has found himself in legal trouble after being indicted for his role in a multi-car crash in Dallas. The incident, which occurred on North Central Expressway, resulted in two people being hospitalized.
Rice is facing charges of aggravated assault, collision involving serious bodily injury, and collision involving injury. Alongside Rice, another driver named Theodore Knox was also involved in the crash. Both Rice and Knox were reportedly speeding before the accident occurred.
Although arrest warrants have been issued for Rice and Knox, they are not currently in custody. NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy has confirmed that the league will be keeping an eye on the situation as it develops.
The crash took place when the Lamborghini driven by Rice hit the center median wall after he lost control of the vehicle. Shockingly, both Rice and Knox fled the scene without stopping to provide assistance or information.
Two drivers involved in the crash were treated for minor injuries, while two passengers had to be taken to the hospital. Dash-cam footage has supported the police’s account of the accident.
Rice, who hails from the Dallas area and played college football at Southern Methodist University, had a successful rookie season with the Chiefs in 2023, ranking second in receptions and yards on the team. His attorney, Royce West, has confirmed Rice’s involvement in the crash and stated that he will take responsibility for his actions.
As the legal process unfolds, fans and officials alike will be watching to see how this situation impacts Rice’s career and future opportunities within the NFL.
